Juno, The Strangers (Non Spoiler) and 2008 Fall TV shows
|
So today I finally saw the movie "JUNO". I didn't want to like the movie because everyone and their mother kept hyping it up to be something really special, but in the end…..I actually did enjoy it. Was it the best movie I ever saw, of course not, but it was really good and many of the lines were written nicely with some humor. Who would have thought that a low budget movie that was merely about some young female who gets pregnant would have entertained me and enlighten me in so many ways. Weird huh? I enjoyed it though. The gag reel was hilarious as well.
Another movie I recently saw was in theatres. That movie being, "The Strangers". I saw it the very first showing on opening day (Friday) and I was really pumped up to see it. The previews look great and there is always something about a movie that hypes itself up to be inspired by a true event that gets me all excited. Don't get me wrong, in real life I don't like to see or hear about people getting slaughtered or killed. Who does? However, when it comes to things like this…..you know that already happened I cant help, but not look away. It intrigues me to the point that I look online to read about what really happened. At night while laying in bed I start twitching like a drug addict and I cant sleep because my mind starts racing and wondering what really happened on such a fateful night? Why did it happen? What the hell goes on in peoples minds when they do such things? Etc.
Anyways, for those of you that don't know the movie stars Liv Tyler and with out giving anything away its basically about her and her significant other coming back from a wedding and staying really late at night in some remote house in the woods. There's know one around and a few hours of being there late at night they hear this hard knock on the door. That's basically where all hell breaks loose.
I enjoyed the movie. At first I thought it started abit slow, but that's only because there was a story trying to be told about the couple. We see a few flash back scenes for that. As soon as the knock is heard on the door though the movie is straight forward and you will immediately get sucked in. Well, at least I did. I don't recall the last time I actually saw a movie in theatres and felt abit intense. With this one I did. This movie has to be seen on the big screen though or at least with really powerful surround sound. There were many loud moments that will have you jump. As I was watching this movie there were some scenes that took place that made me want to scream at the characters. I knew right away that there was NO WAY this happened like this in real life. Hollywood just created a good entertaining flick to watch that was based on some murders….one that gave me a scary feel to it. One that after watching would definitely not make me go anywhere near a home in the woods.
Still, I also loved the camera angles and the way scenes were shot. We didn't really get to see the actual faces of the killers. We got to see 3 people with mask on as scene in the trailer, but many scenes/things were left to our imaginations and that's what made it so great and suspenseful. I know many people that hate these type of things in their movies, but not me. I enjoy things like this. To me what creates a scary scene in a movie is what we don't actually see.
Its like real life. Ever been alone in a house with all the lights off and suddenly you hear a loud noise? That's scary right? Your heart is beating and you are all intense and as soon as you find out its nothing, but a cute cat in the window or something minor you relax and get your composure back to normal. You realize there was nothing to be frighten about, but your mind couldn't help it. At the time when you didn't see what you were up against you went into fight mode and grabbed the nearest bat or anything you could find to defend yourself. Its just human nature to quickly scream, "What the fuck was that??!?!" That's how this movie was. 3 strangers decide to cause hell on a innocent couple. There was a knock on the door with a reaction like the one I mentioned above and from there on out things happen that will grab your attention and not let go. At least it did to me. The scariest line definitely had to be when Liv Tyler asked "Why are you doing this?" and the girl replies, "Cause you were home". That to me is just insane and the worship of the devil. I just wish the ending gave us abit more story to what happened after the whole thing. I guess that's me just wanting more since I knew going in that this was something that took place long ago that had no actual closure.
2008 FALL TV SHOWS
I know its really early for this, but earlier I was looking up some of my favorite TV shows and I stumbled upon a few things. For starters Heroes season 3 debuts on September 22nd with a 3 hour event. The first hour will be some kind of recap and the next two hours will be all new. The new season from what I read seems like its going to kick major ass and once again give me Heroes orgasms. I really cant wait! Here is what I DON'T like though about my current fall line up. I found out that Prison Break has been moved up to a new time slot on Monday nights. Can anyone guess what time Prison Break will be on? Well, I will tell you. Prison Break will go up against….ready for this??? HEROES!!!! WTF?!? Thank gawd I have a DVR, so this will not mess up my Monday nights. I will still be able to watch two great shows, but that's not the point. Why touch a good thing? Prison Break has always been at 8pm on FOX. Leave it where it is. Instead the new Terminator show will be starting in Prison Breaks time slot. I did watch the new Terminator show. I have to see the last two eps, but I thought it had some potential to be good. Not any where near my favorite current shows though. Why FOX is moving Prison Breaks time slot is beyond me. Personally I plan to watch the show that looks best for the week. That's what I will do. Prison Break begins again on August 25th.
In other TV news….
My all time favorite show will be returning on September 2nd. If you don't know which show that is brace yourself because its not Smallville. Im talking about Beverly Hills 90210. YES I love that show! What I don't like is this new cast though. I saw them with the 90210 theme song and it looks dumb. I watch 90210 everyday after work on the Soap channel and I still love all the eps. I also have seasons 1-3 on DVD. I have seen every single episode at least 20 times each. 90210 is one of those rare special shows that no matter what kind of day Im having I could watch it and it will make me feel good and smile. Anyways, I guess we will see how it turns out. I know Torri Spelling is signed on to be some sort of MILF on the show, not sure about the rest of the cast though. I feel sorry for kids that watch this show today because they will never have experienced what the real 90210 show was like. I got to see Kelly, Brenda and Tiffani Amber Thiessen when she was developing. Man, that show kicked ass! :D
Another show you might all want to mark in your calendars is Knight Rider. It begins on September 24th at 8pm. Ok I rambled enough, so I better end this. I been in a "Veronica Mars" DVD watching mode as well. In the last 3 days I saw 10 episodes. I figure by the end of the week I should finish with the first season and finally find out what is going on with certain characters on the show. I also still have to find out if that biker kid from Veronica Mars is from the movie Free Willy. Every time I see his face he looks familiar and I don't know where I remember him from, but I think its that. |

| Hey Trish, yeah it has been a long time since we've seen Heroes. On the bright side it seems like we might get a longer season this time around, so it will all be worth it Im sure. Thanks for the comment. |
