The Incredible Hulk 2008 (Non Spoiler)

Okay Im going to assume that everyone saw the first Hulk movie and knows the basic story of the character right? Cool! Then I wont waste time on all that. I will just go straight into my opinions.

I saw the movie today and I loved it. It was definitely better then part one. The one thing that I never liked about the first Hulk movie was the over use of CGI. I always felt it was abit to much to show the Hulk as big as King Kong. Im use to watching the old TV show that showed Lou Ferrigno (a taller yet muscular big man) playing the part. In the movies we never got that. Instead the creators felt there was no man that could play such a awesome big enough Hulk, so they created all these visual effects by using CGI in order to bring him to life.

What this movie does that the first movie didn’t though is actually keep me entertained from start to finish with a good story. Infact it was so good that for what ever reason this time around I didn’t mind all the CGI. Heck I thought it was really cool! Was the CGI improved in many ways? I dunno, I don’t think so, but then again maybe it was? All I know is that I enjoyed the movie much more for some reason. Maybe this time around I didn’t expect to much since part one was kinda a let down?

If you ever talked to me about movies or TV shows you already know that I don’t like it when main characters are suddenly switched. I get use to one actor playing the part and I like to see him or her continue to play that same part. Maybe I just hate change….maybe Im stubborn, but that’s me. We all know how everyone and their mother played the Batman character and it just took a lot away from the man in Black. Though I actually enjoyed all the Batman movies even the ones that everyone else seemed to hate, but that’s another story all together. You get my point though….when I saw the trailer to this movie at first I didn’t like the idea of a brand NEW actor playing the Hulk. Weird thing is though as I kept seeing the trailer I changed my mind immediately and thought, “This might actually be a good new start to this franchise since Eric Bana sucked and I always liked Eric Nortan as a actor better” So yeah…

I had no problems with Jennifer Connelly, but I didn’t mind that Liv Tyler played the character of Betty Ross this time around either. I thought the opening 5 minutes of the movie was handled perfectly showing us a small recap of the first movie, only they reshot and showed both Eric and Liv Tyler playing the respective roles of both main characters. It was actually cool because if you didn’t see the first film some how and just went to see this movie you actually wouldn’t be lost. Infact this movie seemed more like a fresh start to the Franchise only it was continuing from where we left off last time, so Dr. Bruce Banner is still hiding out and on the run till he could find a cure and not harm anyone around him when he gets angry and changes to The Hulk.

The action scenes kicked ass! Loved all of them. Its always fun watching the Hulk smash people and throw them around like little rag dolls. I always wanted to do that myself when I get pissed off! Funny thing is, there is this line in the movie where Bruce is telling someone that he wouldn’t like him when he is hungry and I had to laugh because I was thinking, “OMG!!! THAT’S ME!!!” I get pissed when Im hungry too. lol. Anyways, back to the action parts…it was also fun to see him smash up cars and toss them like toys. All that was awesome! The fight scene between him and the “other ugly looking Hulk” was bad ass too. Definitely all that was enjoyable. Like I said this time around the story kept me more glued. There wasn’t a dull moment like in the first movie because they didn’t have to explain how he becomes The Hulk so it seemed less dragged out to me. I think that’s what helped this movie a lot. Plus I think Edward Norton looks more like Bill Bixby who played the original Hulk of old.

What else can I say since I don’t want to give any spoilers? The movie was great, lots of action, good story and acting. The ending rocked and had the entire movie theatre I was in literally clapping and cheering. After its all set and done incase you are wondering unlike the movie “Iron Man” there is no extra scene that will take place once the credit ends. The final scene that was shot is just that, so you could get up and go and remember that Im telling you this or stick around and let everyone else out the theatre. Your choice. I think this sequel should do better then the first movie though cuz where I was at it was packed. It’s a good story seeing Bruce trying to find a cure for his whole gamma experiment that went wrong. I think the movie actually has more of a TV show feel, but maybe that was just me. You could even hear the Incredible Hulk theme playing in the background in a scene or two. You will also notice 2 cameo appearances from two actors that were in The Hulk TV show. I think its obvious who Im talking about, but yeah…I wont tell you. Just have fun picking them out. Also Stan Lee once again does his little cameo appearance as well. Always love to hear the reaction of the movie audience when they see him cuz they start pointing to their friends next to them and scream out, “That’s Stan Lee” as if their friends are F’N clueless and don’t notice its him themselves.

Final Thoughts:
I guess that’s about it. I could say a lot more, but then I’d be ruining it. Enjoy the movie if you watch it and also check out the movie “Iron Man” since that was actually a movie that I expected NOTHING from and it turned out to be one of the best comic book movies out there. No joke! Believe me I wanted to watch it and trash it since everyone praised it so much, but in the end it was actually really good. Not better then Spider-Man or X-Men, but better then most comic book movies in general. I guess the next movie I will watch will be “The Happening”. Im a sucker for M Night Shyamalan movies. I know in the end its going to be something stupid that was keeping me in suspense (since about a week ago I already heard about what the whole thing is...damn Internet! Hopefully what I read was a joke since it sounds ridiculous), but who cares.

Final Grade: I dunno 9 Out of 10? Hell maybe 10 out of 10. How could they have made the movie better. It’s The Hulk. As long as he gets pissed off and smashes people I would have been entertained. It has everything that The Hulk should have with a cool ending. I’ll be buying this movie on DVD or should I say Blu-Ray when it comes out.

this version of the hulk was definitely better than the last version - everything from the acting to the graphics to the entertainment was much much better.

Yeah it was. I dont recall what I graded the first Hulk movie, but I know deep inside it was definately much higher then what I honestly thought it was. Im sure if I go back now and look I'd have to take away a few superman symbols for that one. Anyways, glad you enjoyed the movie too. Thanks for the comments Trish.
