Comic artist/writer passed away friday night. He was only 37. For those not completely sure who he was or what he did, he drew for Marvel, DC, and other independent companies. Chances are you've seen some of his work if you have been reading comics off and on for a while, but here is a link to check out.
I never had the chance to meet him, but Jennifer (my g/f) did. He was one of the guys she spent a whole lot of time in line for because he was/is one her favorite artists and was worth the time spent in line because he was a really nice guy. I was bummed when i heard the news, and the more i think about it, the more sad i get. What's even more sad, that there isn't a whole lot of news about it, just on comic websites. I know he's just an artist, but had a lot of fans in his profession.
George Carlin passed away due to heart failure last night at age 71. Besides being my favorite comedian he was definately an inspiration to me as a writer. He wasn't just funny but he was thought-provoking and inflammatory. I am happy I got to see him live before his passing and it truly was an experience I will cherish.
There has been no confirmation on this as yet but actor Heath Ledger has reportedly been found dead in his New York apartment building. He was 28 years old. Ledger was probably most famous for his role in "Brokeback Mountain" which netted him an Oscar nod. He had just finished filming ther sequel to "Batman Begins" titled "The Dark Knight" in which he played "The Joker". Heath is generally considered to be one of the greatest actors of his young generation. As of writing this no other news is available but it has just been confirmed by CNN.com. Sad news indeed.
UPDATE : (from imdb.com) Actor Heath Ledger was found dead at a Manhattan apartment Tuesday afternoon in what appeared to be a possible drug-related death; he was 28. The actor was discovered in one of the SoHo apartment's bedrooms at 3:31 p.m., when a masseuse arrived for a scheduled appointment and the residence's housekeeper went to inform the actor of the masseuse's arrival. He was found unconscious and unresponsive; the New York Times stated that the apartment in question belonged to actress Mary-Kate Olsen, who was not present and was believed to be out of state. An initial police report also cited by the New York Times said that foul play was not suspected and that pills had been found near Ledger's body. A native of Australia, Ledger shot to fame as a teen heartthrob in 10 Things I Hate About You before graduating to more adult roles, most notably his Oscar-nominated turn in Brokeback Mountain. Engaged at one time to Brokeback co-star Michelle Williams, the two had a daughter but had split in recent months. Earlier this year, Ledger wrapped filming on the Batman film The Dark Knight, in which he played The Joker; the film is currently set for release this summer. Further details of the actor's death were not available at press time.
Thrill-seeker, daredevil and all-around crazy sonofabich Evel Knievel died today after a battle with an undisclosed illness. Some called him crazy, some insane, but most watched in awe as he put his life on the line for entertainment. I write for all of us at The Void when we send our deepest sympathies to the Knievel family.
...I find myself at a crossroads with this site. Wanting it to thrive but unable to commit. I guess there are worse things not to be able to commit to. I am having some family issues as well as issues with my father's health and my mental well-being. I am tempted to write and have triend but all that comes out is "FUCK FUCK FUCK" and derivatives of that. I will try and get something down this weekend. However if I don't please don't give up on this site yet, anyone out there that is still checking this.
Why cant I get this song out of my head?? Its Britney bitch!
I dunno why, but all day I found myself either humming or singing this song. Weird...I know! I even found myself whispering (on more then one occasion), "Its Britney Bitch!", when I was outside. Not good...even though I love that part. lol. Anyways, the vid I found is hot! Remember when Britney looked like a hot stripper and all her performances was nothing more then soft porn? Her lip singing really didn't matter then right? Damn Kevin Federline for taking all her good years away!
It's been some time since I posted here, well since anyone has posted here. It's complicated, some of us have lost internet connectivity and would probably have posted if not for that. In other cases life has intervened and prevented us from doing our hobbies (we don't get paid for this). As for myself I sort of shot my wad on that last huge ass column and had a hard time reloading. I am back at work (I consider this my work) here and hopefully can continue to with a clear mind, that's the hard part. So sorry we haven't been around but here's hoping we'll start anew.
