Little Man (2006)
|

Movie Review: Little Man (2006) Starring: Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans and John Witherspoon Director: Keenen Ivory Wayans Genres: Comedy, Drama, Kids/Family and Crime/Gangster Runtime: 1 hr. 37 min. Rated: PG-13 for Crude and Sexual Humor Throughout, Language and Brief Drug References.
The Story: Darryl Edwards (Shawn Wayans) is so eager to become a father that he mistakes a short, NON baby-faced thief in Calvin Sims (Marlon Wayans) for an abandoned toddler.
My Review: I never thought I would be reviewing this movie, but the DVD was on sale at my local Best Buy store for 9 dollars and 99 cents due to the holiday season and all, so being that the family picked it up and I saw it with them, well… here I am.
If you ever saw the movie “White Chicks” then you may be familiar with this type of flick. Only in this movie Marlon Wayans is the only brother who plays the part of the “Little Man” character and is suppose to be believable as a little baby boy. Of course he is NOT as anyone who sees this movie could obviously tell that Marlon Wayans is just a short little man, but it’s a comedy movie that stars the Waynes brothers so there is no need for any logic right?
If you like other Wayans brothers movies where the two of them dress up to be something they are not, in example “White Chicks”. Im sure you will enjoy this movie for what its intended to be.
The story is a simple one too. Marlon Waynes who plays a character named Calvin has just gotten out of jail. During a robbery he some how hides a big diamond he stole in the purse of Shawn Waynes Wife (Vanessa). Marlon wanting the diamond back pretends to be a baby who was left in Shawn Waynes (Darryl) doorstep.

His goal and mission is to quickly snatch the diamond back from the purse and get out. Unfortunately for him that doesn’t happen quite so easily and now Marlon seems to be stuck in a house pretending to be a little baby boy. Get it? Good.
I must admit there are a few scenes that I thought were funny in this movie. For example when Shawn Waynes wife is playing with Marlon on the bed and kissing his stomache and making little baby sounds and Marlon Waynes is busy pushing her head further down and down to appear as if he was trying to receive a blow job. That’s just one of the funny moments in this movie, but you have to see the rest for yourself. I don’t want to spoil it.
Other actors in this movie that may appear familiar to some of you are John Witherspoon who starred in such movies like “Friday”. He played Ice Cube’s father incase. Here in this movie he is Shawn Waynes Wife father. He just so happens to be living with them and has his suspicions about Marlon being who he says he is.
Also Lochlyn Munro who played in “Scary Movie” is in this. He was the white guy that screams…”Where’s the foot?!” and also his wife in “Little Man” is the sexy Brittany Daniel.

You may remember her from an old TV show called, “Sweet Valley High”. She played one of the twin sisters. She was also in “White Chicks” too with the Waynes Brothers among other flicks. She doesn’t have a big role in this movie though, but she basically just plays someone that Marlon wants to grope when he meets her.
Final Thoughts: There’s not really much left to say here. Believe me I expanded this review more then enough. Like I said already if you enjoyed White Chicks and for that matter other Waynes Brothers movies you will enjoy this one. Marlon Waynes facial expressions attached to the small body are humorous at times, but the fact still remains that there is no way in hell anyone would ever mistake him for a baby. There is a scene where Marlon is brought to the doctor and even the doctor is not smart enough to realize he is examining a grown man. He thinks he is either losing all his teeth or suddenly grew all his teeth in at his early age which is totally ridiculous, but yeah, its suppose to be dumb and humorous and that’s what it was. All an all, I thought it was pretty good and actually much better then I expected it would be. I also found the special features of the making of Little Man interesting on the DVD because they actually got two little guys to play the part. One was used for his skills to play sports and run around and do all the stunts by himself and the other was used for his muscular body presence. All Marlon did in the end was add his face to the character and come up with some funny facial expressions.
Actors Linden Porco (left) and Gabriel Pimentel (right) are the REAL “Little Man”.
